Designing audit trails people will actually maintain

Elaborate folder taxonomies collapse by the second close. Keep trails boring: one period folder, account-coded files, and a mandatory “source system + export timestamp” line at the top of every reconciliation.

Link tickets, do not paste novels

Exception notes should cite ticket IDs and quantified exposure. Paragraph essays belong in the memo, not inside every cell comment.

Reviewer path in under three clicks

If a partner cannot open supporting PDFs in three clicks from the trial balance map, the trail is decorative. Fix the map before you add another control checklist.
